Terms & conditions
The agreement between you and Inspistor covering the Inspistor web app, the Chrome extension and the free tools. Plain language, and nothing in it that the product does not actually do.
Last updated August 13, 2026
The short version
Use Inspistor for your own work, keep your password to yourself, and do not use it to store or distribute anything illegal. Your saved links stay yours — we claim no ownership of them and only handle them to run the service. Paid plans buy a higher ceiling, not the basics, and you can cancel at any time. If the service breaks, we owe you your money back for what you paid, not a consequential loss.
The rest of this page is the same thing said precisely. It applies from the moment you create an account or use any part of the site, including the free tools, which need no account at all.
What the service is
Inspistor is a personal link library. You save links, file them in categories nested as deep as you like, attach notes, tags and highlights, and search the result. Depending on your plan it also keeps an archived copy of a saved page, so the item survives the original going down.
It is a tool for organising links, not a backup service and not a system of record. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — the dashboard exports everything as machine-readable JSON on every plan, including the free one, and that export re-imports losslessly.
Your account
- An account belongs to one person. You are responsible for everything done under it, so keep the password to yourself. We store only a salted hash of it and cannot read it or recover it for you.
- Give a real email address you control. It is how a password reset reaches you, how a collection invitation finds you, and how we would tell you about a change to these terms.
- You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. Inspistor is a tool for professional work and is not directed at children under 13.
- Tell us through the support page if you think someone else has got into your account.
Acceptable use
Do not use Inspistor to store, share or distribute anything unlawful, anything that infringes someone else's rights, or malware. Beyond that, do not:
- Attack, overload or probe the service — automated bulk requests against the API, attempts to reach another account's data, or anything designed to degrade it for other people.
- Resell access, or run a competing service on top of the API. Using the API for your own account is fine and expected.
- Share one account between several people to avoid paying for seats.
- Reverse engineer the paid tiers to circumvent a plan limit.
We may suspend or close an account that does any of these. Where the breach is not deliberate and not causing harm, expect to be asked to stop first.
Your links stay yours
You keep every right you have in what you save — the links, notes, tags, highlights and category structure. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to operate the service: to store that content, to display it back to you, to show it to people you have explicitly shared a collection with, and to fetch and keep an archived copy of a page where your plan includes that.
That permission exists for no other purpose. As the privacy policy states, we do not sell or share your data, and we do not read your saved items to train models or profile you. The permission ends when you delete the content or close the account.
You are responsible for having the right to save what you save. A page you archive is a copy of someone else's work held for your own reference; do not republish it.
Shared collections and public links
A collection can be shared with named collaborators, or published as a link that works for anyone holding it. Treat a public link as public: it is unguessable, but it is not access-controlled, and anyone it is forwarded to can open it. Revoking the link stops it working; it cannot recall a copy someone already took.
What a collaborator can do in a collection you own is set by the role you gave them. You remain responsible for what you put in a collection you share.
Plans, prices and payment
The free plan has ceilings rather than a clock. You can stay on it indefinitely, and nothing you already saved becomes unreadable because you did not upgrade.
Current plans, prices, currencies and billing periods are the ones shown on the pricing page at the time you buy. Payments are taken by our payment gateway; we never see or store your full card details. Prices are inclusive of applicable taxes unless the checkout says otherwise, and the gateway's receipt is the record of what you paid.
A recurring plan renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. We may change prices, and a change never applies to a period you have already paid for — account holders on a paid plan are told before a renewal is charged at a new price, and cancelling before that renewal costs nothing.
If a payment fails or a plan lapses, the account falls back to the free plan's ceilings. It is a downgrade, not a deletion: your items, categories, archived copies, highlights and existing share links all survive and stay readable. What a paid plan buys is the ability to make the next one.
Cancellations and refunds have their own page — refund & cancellation policy — including the 7-day window, and it forms part of these terms.
The extension and the free tools
The Chrome extension is covered by these terms and by the permissions described in the privacy policy. It reads a page only when you click the toolbar icon, and it talks to no service other than the Inspistor API. Your use of Chrome itself is between you and Google.
The tools under /tools are free, need no account, and run entirely in your browser — nothing you paste into them is uploaded. They are provided as-is for convenience, with no warranty and no guarantee that any particular tool will still be there next year.
Availability and changes to the service
We do not promise a specific uptime. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, for a failure upstream, or because something broke. We will keep those windows short, and we will not pretend a paid plan comes with a service-level agreement it does not have.
Features change. We may add, alter or withdraw them. If a change removes something material that a paid plan was bought for, you will be told, and you may cancel and ask for a proportionate refund of the unused part of the period.
Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time: cancel a paid plan from your account, or ask on the support page to have the account and everything in it deleted, which is done within 30 days and confirmed when it is done.
We may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of the acceptable-use section, or where we are legally required to. Except where the breach is unlawful or deliberately harmful, we will tell you first and give you the chance to export your data. If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your breach, we refund the unused part of the period.
Warranties and liability
The service is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost profits, lost business, or the cost of a link you could no longer find. Where we are liable, our total liability for all claims in any twelve-month period is capped at the amount you actually paid us in that period. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Inspistor stores links to third-party sites and, on some plans, copies of their pages. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their availability.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Tamil Nadu, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If a clause here turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, the date at the top of this page changes and account holders are emailed before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date is acceptance of the new version. A change will not be applied retroactively to a billing period you have already paid for.
Contact
Inspistor operates Inspistor. Questions about these terms, a billing question, or a legal notice: send them from the support page, which is the way to reach us. Requests are read by the people who build Inspistor, not by a ticketing system.
