For anything involving the extension, these three things turn a two-day exchange into one reply: the browser and version you are on, whether the popup's status label reads Connected or Offline, and the URL of the page you were trying to save. If a save failed, the exact message it showed is worth more than a description of it.
Common questions
The extension says my session expired. Why?
Sign-in tokens are not permanent. When one lapses the extension clears it and shows the sign-in form again — enter the same email and password you use on the dashboard and it will pick up where it left off. Nothing you had already saved is affected.
The category list in the extension is empty.
The extension shows the categories on your account, so a brand-new account with no tree yet has only Uncategorized. Create a category on the dashboard and reopen the popup. If categories exist on the dashboard but not in the popup, the extension could not reach the API — check the status label at the top of the popup, which reads Offline in that case.
The Record button does nothing, or says the microphone is blocked.
Voice notes use the speech recognition built into Chrome and Edge; other browsers do not implement it and the button will say so. If it is blocked, Chrome is refusing microphone access — open Settings, Privacy and security, Site settings, Microphone, and allow it. You can always type the note instead; nothing depends on dictation.
Can I save a page that is behind a login?
Yes. The extension reads the page you are already looking at, so an authenticated page saves exactly like a public one. Only the title, URL, description and icon are read — never the page contents, and never anything on a tab you did not click save on.
Does the extension track the pages I visit?
No. It has no content script and no access to the sites you browse. It reads a page only after you click the toolbar icon, and only that one page. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
How do I delete my account and everything in it?
Send a request using the form on this page, from the address on the account, and ask for deletion. The account, its categories and all of its saved items are removed within 30 days and we confirm when it is done. Individual items and categories you can delete yourself from the dashboard at any time.
Is Inspistor free?
The account, the dashboard and the Chrome extension are free to use, and the tools under /tools are free and need no account at all.
